STRONG, SECURE. & EARTH FRIENDLY. After exploring all the options, we proudly chose cardboard for KeepSee's substrate. It's strong, light-weight, can be decorated creatively, and of great importance to us, it is earth-friendly. We made the walls double thick. The KeepSee doors snap snugly in place without the need of latches or hinges. We put windows in to help you identify what is held inside. The bottom sits flat on the shelf. There is an interesting effect: the box tips ever so slightly to the back, which keeps the contents from pressing against the windows.
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST? We are confident that it will last you many, many years. I have one that I have used one since 2011 that is opened 3x and shut 3x a day minimum--so, 365 days x 6 = 2190 times a year times 6 years = 13,140 open and shut door movements. (Well, that's old info. I'm still using the same box 11 years later!)
It contains my everyday grooming supplies such as: my makeup, several sets of everyday earrings in little baggies*, deodorant, powder, eye drops, clippers, file and tweezers, etc. When I travel, I add travel sized lotion, mouthwash, shampoo, etc. I take the box on trips because all my needs are ready to go and I know exactly where to find them during the trip. Bottom line: the box is used extensively and looks just fine. No one would notice any wear in the hinge area, the most vulnerable part. I did learn that I need to tip the box slightly when closing the lid so that the eyeliner pencil doesn't make a small ding in the closure flap.
*You can order small, multi-purpose zip lock bags from KeepSee Direct too. They are very handy for the smallest things you might like to store.
UNIQUE OFF-CENTERED DIVIDERS.
KeepSee Boxes have strong dividers that act as shelves inside the boxes when they stand vertically. The doors fit flat against the dividers, keeping the contents neatly inside. Our off-centered dividers were created to more perfectly store spices with their different size jars, but as you have heard, they can store just about any collection of little things.
